Originating in Long Beach, CA and continuing on 25 years later in Omaha, NE , Josh One came up in Southern California underground scene in in the early-mid 90's with an unrivaled passion for rocking every spot from OC to LA —
His debut single “Contemplation” (2001) and the critically acclaimed album Narrow Path (2004) announced his arrival with laid-back beats and deep, crate-dug grooves. His fourth album Exit Fee (2025) brings everything back full circle.
Since then, he’s collaborated with underground icons like Freestyle Fellowship’s Myka 9 and soul heavyweight Aloe Blacc, building a catalog that bridges boom-bap roots with future-forward production
A vital part of that evolution has been Eighty Bugg, who joined the Boomnote journey in 2008. Her genre-defying vocals, sharp lyrics, and fearless creativity have made her a consistent force in the label’s sound and story.
